These round stud earrings are set with triplet opal, a layered stone made from a thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark base and capped with a clear layer of quartz or glass. The cap protects the opal beneath and helps bring out the play of colour that opal is loved for, with shifting flashes of colour as the stone catches the light.
