These round stud earrings are each set with a 4mm triplet opal in a smooth sterling silver bezel. The polished rim wraps neatly around the edge of each stone. It gives a clean, simple outline that suits everyday wear.

A triplet opal is made from a very thin slice of natural opal. It is backed with a dark base and capped with a clear layer of quartz or glass. The cap protects the opal and gives the surface a glassy, domed-look shine. Triplets are known for showing flashes of play of colour, where the stone shifts through spectral colours as it catches the light. They are a lightweight, affordable way to wear opal. As a triplet, this is not a solid opal.
