A 7mm x 5mm oval triplet opal flashing blue and green, bezel set inside an open heart pendant in gold plated sterling silver.

A small oval opal glows at the centre of this open heart pendant. Its deep blue body tone is scattered with patches of electric blue and bright green. Flecks of violet, pink and warm orange show through as the pendant moves. The colour sits in small, mosaic-like patches rather than long bands, so the stone shimmers and changes with every tilt.

This is a triplet opal. A thin slice of natural opal is backed with a dark base and capped with a clear layer of quartz or glass. The cap protects the opal and gives the stone a glassy, domed shine. Because it is a triplet, it isn't a solid opal.

The opal is held in a smooth, polished bezel. The bezel sits inside a slim, open heart outline in gold plated sterling silver, so the stone looks like it is floating within the heart. A tapered bail at the top lets the pendant hang from a fine curb-style chain in a matching gold tone. This is a simple, sweet piece for everyday wear or for giving as a gift.
