This pendant features a pear-shaped triplet opal set in sterling silver. A triplet is made from a thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark layer and capped with clear quartz or glass. The cap gives the stone a smooth, domed surface and protects the opal slice beneath. Triplets are known for showing lively play of colour, with flashes that shift as the stone moves in the light.
