This pendant features an oval triplet opal, 8mm x 6mm, set in a smooth sterling silver bezel. A triplet is made from a thin slice of precious opal backed with a dark base layer and capped with clear quartz or glass. The cap gives the thin opal layer protection and a domed, glossy finish. Triplets are known for vivid play of colour, with flashes of blues, greens and other spectral colours moving across the stone as it catches the light.
