This small oval pendant is set with a triplet opal measuring 8mm x 6mm. A triplet is made from a thin slice of natural opal backed with a dark base layer and capped with a clear dome of quartz or glass. The cap protects the opal and gives the stone a smooth, glassy finish. Triplets are known for showing flashes of spectral colour that move as the light changes.
