Sterling silver pendant set with a 7mm x 5mm oval triplet opal in an open, pointed-oval frame. Each opal is hand-selected, so colours and pattern will differ from the photo.

This sterling silver pendant holds a 7mm x 5mm oval triplet opal, set in an open, elongated frame with pointed ends. The stone sits in a smooth, rounded setting at the centre of the frame, with small ribbed bars on either side that add some detail to the metalwork. A polished bail at the top lets the pendant hang from a chain.

A triplet opal is made from a very thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark base layer and capped with a clear layer of quartz or glass. The cap protects the thin opal and gives a domed, glossy surface. Triplets are known for showing lively play of colour, with flashes that shift as the stone moves in the light. This is not a solid opal.
