Oval triplet opal pendant with a 9mm x 7mm stone in a gold plated sterling silver setting with a swirl detail. Every opal is hand-selected, so your stone will differ from the photo.

This oval pendant holds a 9mm x 7mm triplet opal in a smooth, polished gold plated sterling silver setting. A fine metal rim surrounds the stone, and a graceful swirl of metal with a small round accent rises above it to a neat bail at the top.

A triplet opal is made from a thin slice of natural opal backed with a dark base and capped with a layer of clear quartz or glass. The cap gives the stone a glossy, domed finish and protects the delicate opal beneath, and the dark backing helps bring out the opal's play of colour, the shifting flashes of spectral colour that make opal so loved. A triplet is not a solid opal.
