Oval triplet opal pendant with an 8mm x 6mm stone, bezel set in gold plated sterling silver. Each opal is hand-selected, so your stone will differ from the photo.

This pendant features a smooth, domed oval triplet opal, 8mm x 6mm, held in a slim bezel setting of gold plated sterling silver. The bezel wraps neatly around the edge of the stone, and a ribbed, tapered bail at the top lets the pendant hang freely from a chain.

A triplet opal is made from three layers: a thin slice of natural precious opal, a dark backing that deepens the colour, and a clear cap of quartz or glass over the top. The cap gives a glossy, domed finish and helps protect the thin opal layer. Triplets are known for bright, flashing play of colour set against a dark background, and they are a lightweight, practical way to wear opal every day. Because it is a triplet, this is not a solid opal.
