Oval triplet opal pendant with an 8mm x 6mm stone, bezel set in gold plated sterling silver with a bail. Every opal is hand-selected and unique.

This small oval pendant carries an 8mm x 6mm triplet opal in a smooth, domed oval cut, held in a bezel setting of gold plated sterling silver. A narrow rim sits around the outside of the bezel, framing the stone neatly, and a simple tapered bail at the top lets the pendant hang from a chain of your choice.

A triplet opal is made from a thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark base and capped with a clear layer of quartz or glass. The cap protects the delicate opal layer and gives the stone a glossy, domed finish. Opal of this kind is known for its play of colour, with flashes of spectral colour that shift as the pendant moves in the light.

Every opal is hand-selected and unique, so the colours and pattern of the stone you receive will differ from the one shown in the photo. This piece comes from Umoona Opal Mine & Museum in Coober Pedy, South Australia.
