Triplet opal pendant with a 7mm x 5mm oval stone in an open teardrop setting of gold plated sterling silver. Every opal is hand-selected and unique.

This pendant pairs a 7mm x 5mm oval triplet opal with a graceful open teardrop frame in gold plated sterling silver. The oval stone is held in a smooth bezel setting, and a fine loop of metal rises above it to a small bail. Delicate grooved detailing on either side of the stone adds a little texture to the design.

A triplet opal is made from a thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark layer and capped with a clear dome of quartz or glass. The backing deepens the opal's colour, and the cap protects the thin slice. Triplets are known for lively flashes of play of colour set against a dark background.
