Pair of triplet opal earrings in sterling silver, each set with a hand-selected oval opal measuring 7mm x 5mm. Every opal is unique, so colours and pattern will differ from the photo.

These sterling silver earrings each hold a smooth oval triplet opal, 7mm x 5mm, framed by a polished metal surround. A curved, swept piece of silver sits to either side of the stone, giving the pair a graceful, flowing outline, and the two earrings mirror each other.

A triplet opal is made from a thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark base and capped with a clear layer of quartz or glass. This construction gives a bright, vivid play of colour, with flashes that shift as the light moves across the stone. Because the opal is layered, it is a triplet and not a solid opal.
