These earrings each hold a smooth, domed oval triplet opal, measuring 6mm x 4mm, claw set in gold plated sterling silver. A triplet is made from a thin slice of precious opal, backed with a dark layer and capped with clear quartz or glass. The cap protects the opal and magnifies its play of colour, which is the shifting flash of spectral colour opal is known for.
