These drop earrings pair two oval triplet opals with a clean, simple sterling silver setting. Each stone is set in a smooth bezel, with a slim silver rim that surrounds the opal and holds it securely. A straight bar link joins the stone to a hook fitting, so the opals hang gracefully below the ear. The stone size is 9mm x 7mm.

A triplet opal is made from a thin slice of natural opal. It is backed with a dark base and capped with a clear dome of quartz or glass. The cap protects the thin opal layer and gives the stone depth and a glossy finish. Triplets are known for their vivid play of colour, where flashes of spectral colour shift as the stone catches the light. Because the opal is layered, it is a triplet and not a solid opal.
