Oval triplet opal pendant, 7mm x 5mm, set in an open heart of sterling silver on a silver chain. Each opal is hand-selected and unique, so colours and pattern differ from the photo.

This pendant pairs a small oval triplet opal with an open heart frame in sterling silver. The oval stone, 7mm x 5mm, sits within a smooth bezel-style rim at the centre of the heart, with the polished outline of the heart curving around it. A simple bail at the top lets the pendant hang from the fine curb-style chain.

A triplet opal is made from a thin slice of precious opal, backed with a dark base layer and capped with clear quartz or glass. The cap gives a domed, glossy surface and protects the delicate opal layer beneath. Triplets are known for showing vivid play of colour, with flashes that shift as the stone moves in the light. They are not solid opal.

Every opal we set is hand-selected and unique, so the colours and pattern of the stone you receive will differ from the one in the photo. This style is made many times over, and each pendant carries its own opal. It comes from Umoona Opal Mine & Museum in Coober Pedy, South Australia.
