Heart-shaped pendant set with a 6mm x 4mm oval triplet opal in gold plated sterling silver. Each opal is hand-selected, so the stone you receive will differ from the photo.

This heart pendant pairs an open heart outline with a small oval triplet opal set within it. The stone sits low inside the heart in a rimmed setting, and the curving metalwork frames it gently. A bail at the top lets the pendant hang from a chain. The piece is made in gold plated sterling silver and comes from Umoona Opal Mine & Museum in Coober Pedy.

A triplet opal is made from a very thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark base and capped with a layer of clear quartz or glass. The dark backing helps show off the opal's play of colour, and the clear cap adds protection to the thin opal layer. Triplets are known for vivid flashes of colour that shift as the pendant moves in the light. They are not solid opal, and they are a lighter-weight, more affordable way to enjoy opal's colour.
