Triplet Opal Emu Pendant in Sterling Silver · Style 139

Triplet Opal Emu Pendant in Sterling Silver · Style 139

Emu-shaped sterling silver pendant set with a hand-selected 6mm x 4mm triplet opal. Each opal is unique, so colours and pattern will differ from the photo.

This playful pendant takes the form of a bird with a curved neck, a rounded head and long, open-cut legs, all worked in polished sterling silver. The oval opal sits at the centre of the body, held in a smooth silver setting that outlines the stone neatly. A small bail at the top lets the pendant hang from a chain.

The stone is a triplet opal, measuring 6mm x 4mm. A triplet is made from a thin slice of natural opal backed with a dark base and capped with a layer of clear quartz or glass. The cap protects the opal and gives it a glossy, domed look. Triplets are known for showing vivid flashes of play of colour against a darker background, and they are a lightweight, affordable way to enjoy opal. As a triplet, it is not a solid opal.

Every opal is hand-selected and unique, so the colours and pattern of the stone you receive will differ from the one in the photo. The photo shows the design of the pendant: the shape of the stone, the silver bird outline and the bail. This piece comes from Umoona Opal Mine & Museum in Coober Pedy.
