These drop earrings are sold as a pair and feature an oval triplet opal in each, set within an open, diamond-shaped sterling silver frame. The stones are 9mm x 7mm. The polished silver outline wraps around each opal and gives the design a light, modern look.

A triplet opal is made from a thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark base layer and capped with a clear layer of quartz or glass. The cap protects the opal and gives the stone a domed, glossy surface. Triplets are known for vivid play of colour, with flashes that shift as the light moves across the stone. They are not solid opal.

Each opal is hand-selected and unique, so the colours and pattern of the stones you receive will differ from those in the photo. The design of the earrings stays the same.
