Drop earrings, sold as a pair, each set with a hand-selected 9mm x 7mm oval triplet opal in an open, diamond-shaped frame of gold plated sterling silver.

These drop earrings each feature an oval triplet opal, bezel set in a open, softly pointed diamond-shaped frame. The frame has a polished finish and a sweeping outline that surrounds the stone and lets the opal take centre stage. They are made in gold plated sterling silver.

A triplet opal is made from a thin slice of natural opal with a dark backing beneath it and a clear cap of quartz or glass on top. The cap gives the stone a smooth, glossy dome and protects the delicate opal layer. Triplets are known for their vivid play of colour, with flashes that move and shift as the earrings catch the light. A triplet is not a solid opal.

Every opal is hand-selected and unique, so the colours and pattern of the stones you receive will differ from those in the photo. Each earring hangs from a ball stud top by a short straight bar, so it drops gently below the ear. These earrings are sold as a pair from Umoona Opal Mine & Museum in Coober Pedy.
