Pair of triplet opal drop earrings with 8mm x 6mm oval stones, set in gold plated sterling silver. Every opal is hand-selected and unique, so colours and pattern will differ from the photo.

These drop earrings pair a pair of oval triplet opals with an open, swirling metal frame. Each stone measures 8mm x 6mm and sits in a rim setting at the centre of a curved, leaf-like surround. The frame hangs from a smooth teardrop-shaped stud top, so the earrings drop gracefully below the ear and move a little as you do.

A triplet opal is made from a thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark layer and capped with a dome of clear quartz or glass. The cap protects the delicate opal and can add depth to the stone. Triplets are known for showing flashes of spectral colour, called play of colour, that shift as the light and viewing angle change. A triplet is not a solid opal.
