These drop earrings pair a pair of oval triplet opals with a graceful gold plated sterling silver setting. A ball stud sits at the top of each earring, with a slim straight bar leading down to the stone. Each oval opal measures 7mm x 5mm and sits in a polished surround finished with a crossover ribbon detail at the top.

A triplet opal is made from a thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark base and capped with a clear layer of quartz or glass. The dark backing helps show off the opal's play of colour, and the clear cap adds protection and a domed, glossy finish. Because they are triplets, they are not solid opal.
