These drop earrings feature a triplet opal in an oval shape, measuring 7mm x 5mm, held in a bezel setting that wraps the edge of the stone in a smooth band of metal. The bezel sits inside an open teardrop frame, which gives the pair a light, classic outline that moves gently when worn.

A triplet is made from three layers: a thin slice of natural opal, a dark backing layer that deepens the colour, and a clear cap of quartz or glass on top. The cap protects the delicate opal and gives the surface a smooth, domed finish. Triplets are known for bright flashes of play of colour set against a dark background. They are not solid opal.

Every opal is hand-selected and unique, so the colours and pattern of the stones you receive will differ from those in the photo. The photo shows the design of the earrings only. The frame is made in gold plated sterling silver and hangs from hook-style earwires.
