These drop earrings pair a 7mm x 5mm oval triplet opal with a slender, elegant gold plated sterling silver setting. A triplet is made from a thin slice of natural opal, backed with a dark base and capped with clear quartz or glass. The layers are bonded into one stone. The cap protects the thin opal and gives the stone a glassy, polished surface. Triplets are known for showing bright flashes of play of colour.
