Sterling silver crocodile pendant set with a hand-selected 6mm x 3mm marquise triplet opal. Each opal is unique, so colours and pattern will differ from the photo.

This little crocodile pendant is cast in sterling silver, with a curled tail, four stubby legs and an open-jawed head. The back and tail are finished with a beaded, scale-like texture that gives the animal plenty of character. A marquise-shaped (pointed oval) opal sits in the centre of the body, held in a bezel-style setting, and a smooth bail at the top lets the pendant hang from a chain.

The stone is a triplet opal. A triplet is a very thin slice of precious opal backed with a dark base and capped with a clear layer of quartz or glass. The cap protects the opal and deepens its colour, and triplets are known for bright, lively play of colour at an accessible size. A triplet is not a solid opal.
