These earrings pair a smooth oval solid opal with a pointed, leaf-like surround in gold plated sterling silver. Each oval cabochon (a domed, polished stone) measures 6mm X 4mm and is held by small claws, with a raised polished border framing the stone.

Solid opal is natural opal cut and polished from a single piece, with no backing or cap added. Its play of colour, the shifting flashes of spectral colour that move as the light changes, runs through the stone itself. Solid opal can show anything from soft, milky glimmers to vivid, broad flashes.
