Solid opal pendant with a 5x3 pear stone in an open heart setting of gold plated sterling silver. Every opal is hand-selected and unique, so colours and pattern differ from the photo.

This pendant pairs a pear-shaped solid opal with an open heart frame in polished gold plated sterling silver. The 5x3 pear stone is a smooth, softly rounded teardrop that sits inside the curve of the heart, held in place by small claws, so light can reach the opal from around the edges.

A solid opal is cut from a single piece of natural opal, with the colour running all the way through the stone rather than being a thin layer on a backing. Solid opal is known for its play of colour, the shifting flashes of spectrum colour that move as the stone is turned in the light.

Every opal we set is hand-selected and unique, so the stone you receive will not be the one in the photo. Its colours, pattern and brightness will differ. The photo shows the design of the pendant: the pear-shaped stone, the claw setting and the open heart frame.

The heart is a smooth, high-polish gold-toned design with a slim, glossy bail at the top that lets the pendant hang freely from a chain. It comes from Umoona Opal Mine & Museum in Coober Pedy, South Australia.
