Pair of solid opal drop earrings in gold plated sterling silver, each set with a hand-selected 7mm x 5mm oval opal and finished with a ball stud top.

These drop earrings pair a small oval solid opal with a graceful, flowing gold-toned setting. A ball stud sits at the top of each earring, with a slim bar hanging below it. The bar ends in a crossed-over wire detail that cradles the stone at the bottom. The stones measure 7mm x 5mm.

Solid opal is cut from a single piece of natural opal, with no backing or cap added. It is known for its play of colour, the shifting flashes of spectrum colour that move across the surface as the stone catches the light. Because the colour is part of the stone itself, it runs all the way through the opal.
