These drop earrings pair a smooth oval solid opal with a graceful, open gold plated sterling silver frame. Solid opal is natural opal cut from a single piece of stone, with no backing or cap. Its colour comes from within the stone, and it is known for the flashes of spectral colour that shift as the light moves across it.

Each opal is hand-selected, so every stone is unique. The colours and pattern of the opal you receive will differ from the stone in the photo, and the photo shows the design of the earrings only. Each earring holds an 8mm x 6mm oval opal.

The oval stone sits in a polished setting inside a curved, pointed frame that sweeps around it like a stylised leaf. The frame is open at the sides, which lets light reach the opal. A small, smooth, rounded stud top joins the drop with a short link, so the earrings hang neatly below the ear. They are sold as a pair and come from Umoona Opal Mine & Museum in Coober Pedy.
