These drop earrings pair a small oval doublet opal with a clean, open teardrop frame in sterling silver. Each stone measures 7mm x 5mm and sits in a smooth bezel, with the silver wrapping around the edge of the opal. The bezel holds the stone securely and keeps the outline neat. A small round link joins each teardrop to a hook ear wire, so the earrings hang and move gently with you.

A doublet opal is a thin slice of natural opal bonded to a backing layer, which supports the opal and helps bring out its colour. Doublets are known for lively play of colour, where flashes of spectral colour shift as the light and your viewing angle change. A doublet is not a solid opal, and is best kept away from prolonged soaking in water.
