A pair of doublet opal stud earrings in sterling silver, each with a 9mm x 7mm freeform opal in a smooth bezel setting. Every opal is hand-selected, so colours and pattern differ from the photo.

These stud earrings are each set with a doublet opal in a softly rounded, slightly irregular oval outline. The stones measure 9mm x 7mm and are held in a slim, smooth bezel of sterling silver that follows the curve of the opal. The result is a neat, clean design that suits everyday wear.

A doublet opal is a thin slice of natural opal fixed to a dark backing layer. The backing adds strength and gives the colour a darker background. Doublets are known for vivid play of colour, where flashes of spectral colour shift as the stone moves in the light. Because the opal is a thin slice on a backing, it is a doublet and not a solid opal.
