These drop earrings pair a gently domed oval opal doublet with a slim, graceful bar, so the stone hangs and moves with you. Each oval stone measures 8mm x 6mm and is held in a smooth bezel setting, a continuous band of metal that wraps the edge of the opal and shows off its shape.

A doublet is a thin slice of natural opal bonded to a dark backing layer. The backing deepens the stone's colour and helps its play of colour stand out, which is the shifting flash of spectral colour opal is loved for as it moves in the light. Because it is a doublet, it is not a solid opal.

Every opal is hand-selected and unique, so the colours and pattern of the stones you receive will differ from those in the photo. The photo shows the design of the earrings: a small round ball at the top, a short link, a straight bar and the bezel-set oval drop. They are finished in gold plated sterling silver and come from Umoona Opal Mine & Museum in Coober Pedy.
