A pair of round mosaic opal cufflinks with flashes of green, blue and red, set in polished gold-toned bezels with pivoting bar backs.

These round cufflinks are set with mosaic opal, a stone built up from many small pieces of opal fitted closely together to form a single face. Each cufflink shows an irregular patchwork of angular fragments, and every fragment catches the light differently, so the surface seems to shift as you move.

The overall look is dark and jewel-like, with deep blue and violet tones through the background. Vivid electric green flashes stand out across the face, with sparks of red and bright blue scattered between the pieces. The stones are cut flat and polished, and their pattern is a lively mosaic of shards rather than one sweeping colour band.

Each opal sits in a smooth, polished gold-toned bezel with a broad, bevelled rim that frames the stone and gives the pair a clean, classic shape. At the back, a pivoting bar fitting holds the cufflink in place through the shirt cuff. They come from Umoona Opal Mine & Museum in Coober Pedy.
